The author involved, in his first solo exhibition in an art gallery, the photographer emilianoMauro Millenottiactive since the 70 's, in the province of Reggio Emilia, where he lives and works, preferring the scenery and architecture as subject of their investigation.

Brother of Maurice, a costume designer for films nominated for an Oscar (working with Fellini, Zeffirelli, Tornatore), the photographer agrees with him clean of the gaze and the refinement of the language. The investigation on the time and neglect continued for years by Millenotti synthesized in this exhibition in 40 photographs, three of which are of great size, taken over the last 30 years, between the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Mantua, and flanked by a looping video filmed at the place where the river Oglio flows into the Po.

The poetics of abandonment

Almost creating echoes of works by Claudio Parmiggiani, Luigi Ghirri, Gianni Celati, other great storytellers of the Plains, the photographs on view were taken at different times (from the 1980s to early 2011) in cheese and in Mantua. "The theme," explains the artist – the landscape. Not the nice scenery, but the scenery more trivial, most common: that spoiled by urbanisation, improper maintenance of territory. Often the cinema that I photographed are endangered, many factories are abandoned, crumbling and cos some old theaters and houses in the countryside, some beautiful: the beautiful abandoned house there the new ugly geometride, no house plants that are part of the culture of the place.
